Its new decal sheets-
AH-1Z- Vipers Den
Finished model with Werner's Wing decals
Stock number WW Decals 48-08
Product name AH-1Z- Vipers Den
The decals will be available in 1/48th scale. Decal set includes markings for 8 Marine AH-1Z helicopters. Marine Light Attack Helicopter squadrons, or HMLAs, are the primary users of both the AH-1Z
and UH-1Y. However, when deployed at sea with Marine Expeditionary Units (MEUs), detachments
of AH-1s and UH-1s will join a parent CH-46 or MV-22 squadron; HMMs or VMMs, respectively
(also attached to the parent squadron will be elements of a CH-53E and AV-8B squadron).
Once the parent squadron is reinforced, or “goes composite”, all aircraft assigned to this Air
Combat Element of the MEU will adopt the tailcode and unit markings of the HMM- or VMM-,
adding “REIN” to the squadron designator. This sheet reflects not only most west coast Light
Attack Helicopter squadrons, but all the parent west coast MEU squadrons with which the
aircraft deploy aboard Navy amphibious ships.
The BuNos on this sheet are handed. The top BuNo is for the left side, the bottom for the right.
When they are side by side, the left one is for the left side and the right for the right side.
Werner’s Wings would like to thank Capt. Patrick Najmulski, USMC (retired) for his assistance on
this project. His hands on experience, support and enthusiasm were crucial on this project. This
sheet is proof that even an old Army guy and an old Marine can work together. Thank you, Ski!
Werner’s Wings would like to recognize and give a special thanks to Mason Doupnik for his
great work on the decals and instructions. Without him this project would not have been possible.
Look for future decal releases that will cover the development of Marine Corps Cobras from the
Vietnam AH-1G to the present day AH-1Z. We are also planning a sheet for the upcoming UH-1Y.
